About the Club

The Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club is an all-volunteer run sports organization, which has served the community since 1961.

In accordance with our bylaws we offer several membership classes, two of which apply to new applicants.  These are Probate Regular Membership and Special Membership.

Classes of Membership

Regular Membership

The Probate Regular Membership is the first of two stages in a sequence towards becoming a Full Regular Member of the club.

To join the club as a Probate Member you must do all of the following:

  • Fill out an application
  • Apply in Person by attending a General Membership Meeting, held the first Thursday of each month starting at 7pm. Dinner is served at 6pm.

Once your application is accepted:

  • Pay an initiation fee of $250.00
  • Pay the prorated membership fee based on month of joining the club; our membership year is July 1st to June 30th
  • Be a member of the NRA at the time of the acceptance of the application

Applications for Probate Membership are accepted at the General Meeting and voted upon by the Board of Directors at a meeting held the 2nd Thursday of the month.  If you are accepted as a probate member then you will be notified shortly thereafter, either via phone or email address.  At the time of acceptance in the club you must pay the necessary fees to complete the application, and be a member of the NRA.  You may pay by Check/Money Order made out to the Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club or via the club website if you want to use a credit card.

Probate Members will be required to complete a self-directed qualification card to move from Probate to Associate.  This card will serve as your membership card until you advance to Associate Member in the club.  The minimum time frame to complete the requirements is six months, and the maximum time frame is one year.  Once all the qualifications are completed and reviewed then you will be voted upon for advancement to Associate Member at a General Club Meeting, you must be present to advance to the next level.

Probate Members may shoot at current member rates during Public Shooting hours, and may shoot during members only hours and days with an Associate, Full or Life Member present.  Probate members may attend club functions or join in club activities, a list of which may found in the monthly club newsletter.  Your immediate family members may join you in shooting at the club, with the same restrictions.

Special Membership

The Special Membership is designed for people who are unable to perform the required duties around the club.  There are a limited number of these memberships available.  Special Members are eligible to shoot at member rates when the club is open, and may shoot during member’s only hours and days when an Associate or Full Member is present.  Special may join in club activities, a list of which is published in the monthly newsletter.
